Summary
The event brings in members from around the DC creative, startup, social media and tech community for what some like to call an open mic night for hiring teams and entrepreneurs and others call speed dating for geeks. The open format is a fusion of startup job fair and networking event. Attendees include hiring teams representing top startup companies from around the DC area, job seekers, founders with entrepreneurial ideas looking for others to join them, and people interested in getting into the mix. This event will have seats available for the first 65 to arrive, after that it will be standing room only.

STARTUPS, FOUNDERS AND SMALL COMPANIES
Do you work for a DC area startup or small company in the technology/creative sector? Do you have between 1 and 175 employees? Are you looking for staff? Do you have a startup idea and need partners? Do not miss Social Matchbox. Pre-registered companies will have the opportunity to deliver a 1-2 minute presentation about who you are, what you are looking for, and why you are the place to be. Bring a paper flyer with a photo to post so that job seekers can easily spot you. If you have marketing chum, feel free to bring that too. We'll supply posting materials and name tags.
Presentation guidelines:
Presentations are limited to 1-2 minutes (hard stop) for verbal/visual presentations. We’ll provide the LCD and a laptop (tip: send your presentation in advance or bring it on a flash drive). Presenters must bring their own laptop if you don’t use Powerpoint, and adaptors for the projector if you use a Mac). Some tips for presenters will be sent out upon registration.

Itching to work for or with area startups and social media leaders?
Social Matchbox DC is your opportunity to get in the door. You will meet and hear from team members and executives from existing startups working the cutting edge of fields including: energy, health insurance, housing, music, philanthropy, search, social networking, video, web 2.0 and widgets. Many of these companies have openings in business development, design, human resources, management, marketing, public relations, quality assurance, sales, and web development.
Please Note: While many of the employers are filling positions that will pay a market salary, opportunities for equity-compensated positions will also be available.

5:00 – 5:30 PM - Check-in, Networking, & Presentation Preparation
5:30 – 6:30 PM - Startup Open Mic (1-2 min each), followed by Pizza
6:30 - 8:30 PM - Networking
